Dress Making in This Tutorial 1.
Pick out a size for your lace wedding bouquet.
The best thing about this dress is that it’s a great size.
If you want to wear it as a bridal dress, you can size up to about a 32.
Measure the length of the lace.
This will determine the length you’ll need to wear.
You want the lace to be long enough that it covers your shoulders and neck.
If it’s shorter, you’ll have to measure the length to match the hem of your dress.
Measure your neckline.
If your dress is too short, you may need to trim it a little to make it fit your neck.
Measure around your shoulders.
For a strapless dress, your neck is the first point of measurement, so you’ll want to measure around it.
If the dress is shorter, it may be easier to make the dress longer.
Measure along the edge of the neckline to find your waistline.
You’ll want the dress to fall over your hips to create a low silhouette.
Cut the lace into strips.
This is optional but it’s great if you want a simple way to wear your dress with a bow.
You can make this cut for a wedding ring.
If a lace ribbon isn’t available, you could use a silk ribbon or even a lace ballerina.
Mark the edges of your lace dresses.
This step will help you to know where your lace will be on the body of your gown.
It’s easy to forget to do this, but mark your edges so you know when to put it back on. 8.
Fold the edges down.
If there’s an opening in the lace, make a fold.
You may have to make this fold a little bigger than the length, but you don’t need to make that much.
Sew the sides together.
You could fold the sides down to make an opening.
This would help to make your dress longer than the neck of your bridesdress.
Measure and cut the neck seam.
This seam will be where you’ll be tying the knot.
You don’t have to do it this way, but it will make it easier to attach your wedding band.
Cut a bow to hold your lace.
The bow can be anything.
We use lace balls, ribbons, and beads.
We even love this lace bow for wedding presents.
The more you make your bow, the more you’ll love it. 12.
Cut your lace bouquet for the wedding.
You might want to cut your bouquet to fit the length and your neck and shoulder measurements.
For this tutorial, we chose a strappy dress.
The dress should measure about 34 inches from hem to hem.
Sew your lace bows together.
Use a large, sturdy sewing needle to sew your bow to the dress.
Make sure the edges are lined up and that the bow is snug against your dress so that it won’t slip off.
Cut out your lace ribbon.
For our wedding, we decided to create some extra bows to keep the wedding dress in place during the reception.
You need to cut about 1/4 inch off the ends of each bow.
Tie your lace bow.
This should look like the picture above.
The ribbon should be the same length as your dress, but longer than your dress’s hem.
You’re going to sew the ribbon in the right direction to create the bow.
Sew together your lace band.
The next step is to sew all of the bows together, including the lace bows, so they form a knot.
This can be tricky to do because you need to sew each bow into place.
